Meet the Freelings, a middle class family living out their lives in surburbia. Steven, the father, works for a property developer who built the McMansion they inhabit, and all the other identical houses in their quiet corner of America. Everything is perfect, until strange things begin to happen around the Freeling house, witnessed solely by 5 year old daughter Carol-Ann. The happenings escalate quickly, attracting the attention of mother, Diane, and the older siblings. The family only takes notice once the malevolent forces take Carol Ann captive, and they must fight to rescue their daughter from the ‘other side’.
